Tranquil Waters

81cms x 81cms, Oil on Box Canvas, White Frame, Priced at £695

Sometimes a painting starts as nothing more than a moment you wish you’d bottled. This one came from standing on a beach long after everyone else had gone home, when the sky does that strange, generous thing — throwing out colours you didn’t even notice creeping in. The sea was barely moving, just enough to catch the light and smear it across the wet sand.

I wasn’t trying to make a grand statement with this piece; it was more about holding onto that sense of calm you get when the day finally exhales. The soft blues, the warm streaks of pink and yellow — they’re exactly how it felt in that minute before the light slipped away. It’s a quiet painting, the kind that doesn’t ask much of you, except maybe to stop for a second and breathe with it.
