Teaching Since 2004

Whilst I teach watercolours to small friendly groups of mixed ability classes, where beginners are welcomed and encouraged, I will soon make my lessons available to watch and download, so you can learn at your own pace all the techniques and skills you need to become a confident watercolour artist at home or in your own studio.

Since I was a young girl I have had had a passion for drawing and painting which continues today. I was fortunate to be taught by Albert Houghton F.R.S.A A.M.C, Fellow of the R.S.A. I first met him through buying one of his beautiful paintings. My husband tracked him down, approached him and enquired if he could purchase some lessons for me as a birthday present.

He reluctantly agreed, adding that I could only have some lessons if he felt I was talented enough. If not, he wouldn’t be prepared to teach me, as he was now retired. He gave me the four lessons that my husband had purchased and then some more. From this a firm friendship was established and I became his young protege.

It is with this knowledge that I have developed my own style, which I now enthusiastically passes onto my students. I believe that you do learn best by seeing paintings evolve in front of you and therefore I demonstrate in stages, allowing my students to see and practise the painting process in action.
